Make a Commitment to Your Heart: The Heart Truth®
February 22, 2017
The Heart Truth®: Heart disease is the leading cause of death of women in the United States. It is also a leading cause of disability among women. If you’ve got a heart, heart disease could be your problem. The good news: You have the power to protect your heart and lower your risk for heart disease. This fact sheet will help you find out your personal risk for heart disease. Then, it will show you how you can take steps to improve your heart health and lower your chances of developing heart disease.
To make women more aware of the danger of heart disease, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is sponsoring a national program called The Heart Truth®, in partnership with many national and community organizations. The program’s goal is to raise awareness about heart disease and its risk factors among women and educate and motivate them to take action to prevent the disease and control its risk factors.
